The settling of the "Wild West" and the expansion of the railroad system provided Fuller with other examples of individuals believing they were operating with some sort of divinely ordained free will while, in fact, they were merely following a large-scale pattern initiated thousands of years earlier. Certainly, each individual has the right to make choices, but Fuller believed that those choices would be much more successful if they conformed to large-scale patterns.
